Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy can significantly improve the appearance of:
- Acne scars
- Aged and sun damaged skin
- Facial and décolleté lines and wrinkles
- Stretch marks
Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy provides advanced skin micro-surgical needling, a procedure that stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely, creating smoother, brighter, healthier, younger-looking skin.
How it WorksYour practitioner will use a Genuine Dermaroller™ medical device to produce thousands of microscopic needle-columns in the skin. Each column will penetrate into the dermis of the skin and will be approximately 0.1mm in width. The column will close rapidly enabling the skin to recover quickly - often in the same day. Your practitioner will use a topical anaesthetic to numb the skin making the procedure comfortable; it will normally take up to 30 minutes for the topical anaesthetic to work and 20 - 30 minutes for the Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy procedure.
After a Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy procedure your body will start to naturally regenerate and repair the skin, working below the surface in the dermis. This takes time as new collagen and elastin is formed, new skin cells are generated and blood supply is enhanced. It can take up to 6 weeks before visible signs of regeneration and repair are seen and the process will continue over the following months, providing you with a gradual and long lasting enhancement.
Your practitioner will normally recommend that your Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy consists of a series of three Genuine Dermaroller™ procedures with approximately 6 weeks between them.
In the treatment of acne scars and other types of scarring it may be necessary for your practitioner to extend your Genuine Dermaroller™ Therapy, carrying out up to five procedures.
Side effects and Downtime:Immediately post procedure, the skin will look very red similar to a moderate sun burn, this will reduce dramatically within the first 2 hours of treatment. There may be some residual redness the following day and the skin may feel tight and be more sensitive than usual for a few more days. It is important that you apply a high factor sunscreen following the treatment. Don't apply make-up immediately after the treatment and only wash using warm water for the first few days. A light mineral make up can be applied the day after the treatment.
What results might I expect? In the first week the skin will normally look brighter and more vibrant and about 6 weeks later, the regeneration and repair process can tighten the skin and reduce pigmentation.
How does Genuine Dermaroller compare to laser resurfacing? Both these treatments aim to increase collagen production. The advantage of the genuine Dermaroller is that there are fewer risks involved. The Dermaroller can be used on pigmented skin and skin that has been exposed to strong sunlight. Lasers can be used on these skin types but with greater caution as there is a risk they can cause pigmentary changes. After Dermaroller, there is no downtime involved compared to laser resurfacing. You will be able to go about your daily activities the day after treatment. Cost is also a significant factor in choosing one therapy over another, in this instance the Genuine Dermaroller is significantly cheaper than a course of laser treatments which can stretch into the thousands
